St. Jude’s parish was created in January 2007 by Most Rev. Valerian Okeke, the Archbishop of Onitsha. It began as an outstation of St. Joan of Arc Nando. Rev. Fr. Anthony Idigo was the parish priest of Sr. Joan of Arc when it was created as a parish in 2007, he was succeeded by Rev. Fr. John Emeka Okafor.
Major events in St Jude Parish, Nando since the creation of Aguieri Diocese in 2023:
1. The election of parish officials which took place on the 30th of October 2023 under the supervision of officers sent from the Deanery.
2. On the 10th of September, 2023 about 62 candidates received First Holy Communion. The candidates were prepared by Aloysius Debor (senior Seminarian) and the sacrament was administered by Very Rev. Fr Dr Fred Ndimaeme.
3. On the 26th of November 2023, we celebrated the solemnity of Christ the King, with procession into the village with the Blessed Sacrament. On that same day, the CYON went for “Igbapu oso egwu” at Oba in the compound of Chief Ifediorah Henry. This was in preparation for the launching of their new dance.
4. On the 3rd of December, the CYON of the Parish launched their new dance in the Parish and so many dignitaries were invited for the occasion, including:
A. The Chancellor of Aguileri Diocese.
B. The Cathedral Administrator of Aguileri Diocese.
C. Very Rev. Fr. Dr. Fred Ndimaeme (Parish Priest).
D. Some professors from Tansian University Oba/Umunya.
5. On the 31st of December 2023, the parish held its Bazaar sales which started with the celebration of holy Mass at 10:00am.
6. On the 3rd of January 2024, the Parish Priest together with the Parishioners welcomed the Bishop of the Diocese, Most Rev. Denis Isizoh to the Parish, visiting to administer the Sacrament of Confirmation on 119 parishioners.
7. The 4th of January 2024 was the grand occasion of Dedication of the Parish church by His Lordship Most Rev. Denis Isizoh. Shortly before the conclusion of the Mass, Cardinal John Onatyekan of Abuja and Bishop John Ayah of Uyo Diocese joined the celebration and all the dignitaries were warmly made welcome by the Parish Priest and the Parishioners.
About 25 priest from Aguleri, Nnewi, Onitsha, and Awka were present at the Mass of Dedication.
