st. mary’s parish, umudora Anam

The Catholic Mission in Anam began with the arrival of the whie Catholic priest from Aguleri. He pleaded to establish a Catholic school, which would also be a church in the community. This request was granted quickly as Ogbueti Mmolokwu’s ‘Obi’ was donated for use.

In January 1937, at the visit of Fr. Joseph Sweeney, the parish priest of St. Joseph parish, Aguleri, the community donated a parcel of land.

In 1996, with the aid of Rev. Fr. Michael Ozodigwe who was the then parish priest of Holy Cross Oroma-Etiti, St. Mary’s station was elevated to the status of a parish
