The light of the gospel was brought to the doorstep of the people of Umuenwelum Anam in the year 1936 through the instrumentality of Rev. Fr. Joseph Delaney Cssp. who was the pastor at St. Joseph’s Parish Aguleri. together with some early converts, he erected a thatched mud house that served as the church building and school.
In November, 2008 under the administration of Rev. Fr. Nichodemus Aloefuna, the dream of being a parish was achieved. Since the elevation to the status of a parish, the population of the faithfuls have increased to over two thousand.
