St. Vincent’s Independent Station, Owelle-Ukwalla

St Vincent De Paul Parish Owelle/Ukwalla was created from St. Mary’s Parish Nazim as one of the outstations, and Fr. Aloysius Enemali was the residing Parish Priest. Then in the year 2009, this outstation was raised to become an independence station and Fr. Peter Olisa was the first Administrator. On the 10th of October, 2013, Fr. Peter Egboo took over the seat of Administration from Fr. Peter Olisa. Thus, on September 2016, the Archbishop Most Rev. Valerian Okeke declared all the independent stations within the Archdiocese as parish. Sequel to this, St. Vincent Independent station became a Parish. This Parish is made up of a small number of congregation from two communities-Owelle and Ukwalla community. They are just about twenty percent (20%) of the total population of the community because the communities are dominated by Pagans.-The Parish is surrounded by water from River-Niger. Because of that, their major occupation is farming and fishing and their main language is Igalla, seconded by Igbo. It is lively to be among them though sometimes it seems so difficulty and yet the work of God continues to grow.
