EXPLANATION OF THE COAT OF ARMS OF THE BISHOP OF AGULERI

HIS LORDSHIP, MOST REV. DENIS CHIDI ISIZOH
XP (Chi Rho) — Monogram ordinarily taken as abbreviation of Christ’s name (in Greek “Christos”) — Reference to His Lordship special devotion to the Most Holy Name of Jesus Christ, who is the alpha and the omega (the first and the last).

The rising sun — Reference to Psalm 113.3 — “From the rising of the sun to its setting, may the name of the Lord be praised.”

The star above the water — Reference to the Blessed Virgin Mary, “Star of the Sea.”

The two black stripes and the motto “Entirely for God” — Reference to the front and back monastic scapular of the Cistercian monks and the apt summary of a life spent for God: the Bishop’s desire to imitate the spirituality of Blessed Michael Cyprian Iwens Tansi.
