REV. FR DR JOHN CHINEDU NNAEMEKA
Rev. Fr. Dr. John Chinedu Nnaemeka was
born in Nsugbe, Anambra East Local Government Area on 7 September 1980. He
spent most of his early years in the Northern part of Nigeria in Kano and
Kaduna States. His primary education was in Kano State, where he attempted the
common entrance into St Joseph’s Minor Seminary Zaria, and couldn’t gain
admission. He joined his father in Kaduna, who was transferred to Kaduna, to
continue his civil service work, as a meteorologist. There, in Kaduna, John did
his secondary school at Government Secondary School Kawo, and Clara Secondary
School, Hayin-Banki, both in Kaduna State.
John’s
journey to the priesthood began after his secondary education in 2001, after
graduating from his original school in 1997. In the year 2002, John gained
admission into All Hallows Seminary to study Latin, where he graduated with
Distinction (A2). After his completion of his Latin Diploma class, he was
posted for his One Year Apostolic Work, six months intervals (2003-2004), at St
Charles Lwanga Catholic Church Okpoko and Holy Trinity Parish, Farm Settlement
Igbariam, respectively. After successfully completing his one-year apostolic
work he passed the interview to gain admission into St Pius X Spiritual Year
Seminary Akwu-Ukwu (2004-2005). At his completion of his spiritual year
formation, he was sent for his philosophical studies at Pope John Paul II Major
Seminary Okpuno-Awka (2005-2009). John went for his One Year Senior Apostolic
Work, as the Onitsha Archdiocesan Seminarian Bursar, at the Basilica of the
Most Holy Trinity, Onitsha (2009-2010). Finally, John proceeded for the final
stage of his priestly formation, i.e., his Theological Studies. This lasted for
four years, i.e., 2010-2014, where he graduated with Summa, First-Class, and
was ordained in 2014.
Within
the first seven years of his ordination, Fr. John Nnaemeka was able to achieve
these following academic qualifications:
i. Postgraduate Diploma in Education
(PGDE, 2015)
ii. Master’s in Education (Guidance and
Counselling) (M.Ed. 2017)
iii. Teachers’ Registration Council of
Nigeria (TRCN 2018)
iv. Doctorate in Education (Guidance and
Counselling) (Ph.D. 2021)
Currently,
Fr. John Nnaemeka is the Education Secretary of Catholic Diocese of Aguleri,
and in residence at St Joseph’s Catholic Church, Abata Nsugbe, Anambra East,
Anambra State.
