REV. FR FRANCIS OKAFOR
Fr. Francis Ozoemena Okafor was
born on 14th August, 1978 to the family of late Mr Paul Emeka Okafor and Mrs
Virginia Okafor of Umuogoro village of Iyiora Anam in Anambra West Local
Government Area, Anambra State, Nigeria. He was the last child in the family of
four surviving children. He had three brothers and one sister. He was a good
child and everyone loved him. The boy Francis started his formal education at
Summit International School, Nnewi. He was deeply religious boy and that made
him well known at St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Church, Umudim Nnewi. He
was an active member of Alter Knights at St. Michael’s Parish, Nnewi. His
closeness to the church and things relating to God must have primed him to go
for the priesthood. Consequently, after his primary education, the young
Francis secured admission into St Paul’s Minor Seminary, Ukpor (1992-1995). The
young seminarian Francis was in All Hallows Seminary, Onitsha (1995-1998). He
finished his junior seminary formation in record time and was recommended by
his formators to advance further in the ladder of priestly journey. 2001-2005,
Fr Francis Okafor was at Bigard Memorial Seminary, Enugu for his philosophical
studies and the year 2006-2010, for his theological studies at Blessed Iwene
Tansi Major Seminary, Onitsha. He was a good Seminarian, excelling in both
learning and character, and he was raised to the rank of a deacon on 5th
December 2009. And to the glory of God, on July 10th 2010, Fr. Francis Okafor
was ordained a Roman Catholic Priest by Most Rev. Valerian M. Okeke.
