St. Catherine’s Parish Awkuzu was dedicated on the 9th July 2005 by His Grace Most Rev. Dr. Valerian Okeke. It was that same day that St. Catherine station was elevated to a parish of it’s own with an immediately parish administrator, Rev. Fr. David Ozoemena .
For physical and Spiritual growth of the parish many confratenities and religious societies were introduced and established such as Legion of Mary, St. Catherine of Sienna society. Chrismastic renewal, Sacred Heart Society, Blessed Iwene Tansi and others.
