st. michael’s parish, Igbokenyi

The parish of St. Michael Parish, Igbokenyi began in 1954 as an outstation of St. Joseph Parish Aguleri. The first baptism was conducted in 1955 and the first confirmation took place in 1956. In 1978, Nzam became a parish, and St. Micheal’s church, Igbokenyl was established. The first parish priest was Rev. Fr. Anisiobi Hillary, who was later replaced by Rev. Fr. Joseph. In 1998, Holy Trinity Parish, Ega-oja was established, and St. Michael’s became an outstation under it. In 2013, Igbokenyi was promoted to an independent station, and in 2014, a large plot of land was marked out for St. Michael’s parish, Igbokenyi.

On 12th March, 2016, St. Michael’s outstation was elevated to  the status of a parish by his grace; Most Rev. Fr. Valerian Okeke.
