St. Peter’s Parish, Awkuzu

St. Peter’s parish, Awkuzu began as an outstation of St. Raphael’s Awkuzu. Fuel to long distance and other considerations, the outstation was promoted to the status of a parish in January 2009 by Most. Rev. Dr. Valerian Okeke, the Archbishop of Onitsha.
The first solemn high mass was Cele rated by the newly appointed and pioneer parish priest, Rev. Fr. Bartholomew Nnakwe. The holy mass was celebrated at the present location of the Church’s primary school. This was the church site before another land was donated.
The population of the faithful during the last census has an estimate of five hundred faithful.
